Australian Release

Hi Everyone.

Is there anyone on these boards that has the Australian release of Inspector Gadget and if so, how are the episodes broken down and how many are there exactly on the set.

Kane Lives.

I bought the first set. It only has 21 episodes as opposed to the 22 that the US release has. The biggest downfall is the fact that the 2nd episode "Monster Lake" is not on the set, as Magna Pacific somehow got the 22nd episode mixed up with the second and put it second! *_* It's not a proper release to me if this is the case. Magna Pacific should have put them in the right order...

There were FOUR versions of the "pilot" episode. (TV.com said there were three, but there were four.) These versions were as follows:

1.) The opening and closing sequence featured Gadget with his moustache (though using the same theme music and series music) and a different set of original scenes in the middle, after he jumps out the window. This version had Jesse White voicing Gadget.

2.) Similar to the first one, but instead of the original scenes in the openings middle in has clips from the pilot. The episode uses different music and has Gadget voiced by Gary Owens.

3. & 4.) The standard series opening were used in these versions. And one scene had Gadget and Penny's dialogue changed explaining Gadget had grew a moustache on so nobody would recognize him while on vacation. The third version either had White doing Gadget's voice again or had series regular Don Adams doing Gadget (and dubbed over White's voice). The fourth version (the broadcast version) had both White and Adams alternating as Gadget in the episode. The first or third version aired once at the beginning of the series run, while the fourth version premiered as episode #65 at the beginning of the final season. It was this version that's used in the series broadcast package from that point onward.

All four versions have Mona Marshall as the voice of Penny (replaced first by Cree Summer and then Holly Berger). Meanwhile Chief Quimby is voiced alternately by Frank Welker (a few lines) and John Stephenson (most lines). (Welker would continue to voice Quimby on a handful of episodes throughout the series run, while Stephenson would be replaced in the remaining episodes by - respectively - Hadley Kay, Don Francks, Chris Wiggins and Maurice LaMarche.)
