Penny

I love the cartoon I really loved it when Gadget told Brain to watch Penny but when he went to work Penny told Brain to follow him everytime Brain followed him he didn't realize it was his dog and he would always arrest him I know Penny would always go on cases and solve them but Quimby would always give gadget credit (even though Penny solved them) I think Penny should have gotten credit for capturing DR Claw's henchmen I miss the cartoon and I wish it was on dvd my favorite was always Penny getting caught

"And I know I'm going to get grief for saying this, but who else had a crush on Penny when you were 8 or 9? (Come on, admit it!)"

There's nothing wrong with that. After all, how often do you find a blonde that smart?

reply

"what episodes did she get kidnapped in"
Almost every episode she's in. At first when i saw penny getting caught i first thought "snoopy cartoon gals always get kidnapped" but then that happened more frequently almost like it were on purpose an that got me a little disturbed.

Actually, they do have something similar to "computer books", except they're called laptops, and they aren't actual books. How about that, Penny had the very first laptop, which she cleverly disguised as a book.

reply

What do you mean 8 or 9? I still have a crush on her hehe

reply

"What do you mean 8 or 9? I still have a crush on her hehe"

Well, I can't say I blame you. I mean, how many smart blondes do you see on TV these days?

reply

That is wrong on SO many levels... Unless you mean the 16 year old version of her in Go Go Gadgetini's, then that is slightly less weird.

reply

Noway Im talking about the original Penny from the 80s series. Total Fox!

reply

Then yes. VERY wrong.

reply

What's so wrong about it?

reply

Go Go Gadgetini's was a poor continuation of a classic series. They tried, but failed. But, "Gadget's Last Case" and that newer CGI cartoon are even worse. For me, there's only ONE Inspector Gadget: the original I grew up with.

"That is wrong on SO many levels..."

What is?

reply

I think they meant if you're now an adult male who finds Penny attractive then it's wrong.

Go Go Gadgetinis wasn't good?...I've been dying to see it.

But yeah "Gadget's Last Case" sucked ass.

"I think they meant if you're now an adult male who finds Penny attractive then it's wrong."

Well it all depends where he's coming from. It depends how a compliment is taken. For example, is it wrong to call a little girl beautiful? No. Is it wrong to call a little girl pretty or smart or gorgeous? No. Is it wrong to say you are a grown man attracted to a little girl and are in love with her? Yes. Is it wrong to say you want to make love to her? Definite yes! I recall on a talk show Yeardley Smith talked about how someone once told her they'd like to make out with Lisa Simpson. Now, I don't know if this individual was joking or not, usually they're just joking to get a reaction out of people.

That was the point I was making.

And Go Go Gadgetini's was an amazing series. Absolute brilliance on a plate it was. I am thankful that I live in the UK so that I was able to see it.

Okay, well what I'm about to say may sound a little weird, but bear with me, okay? A character on TV, be they real or animated, is seen by alot of people, and they idolize that person because of certain character traits. In this case, many people idolize Penny because of her heroism and because she's too smart for her age, and I'm sure guys of all ages idolize her because of all that, and plus she is of the opposite gender and they like her for just that reason. Penny was created to bring in a larger crowd, if not for her it would be an all-male show. They developed Penny in a way that little girls in the audience would look up to and admire her--not like in that terrible movie where they made her a clueless kid.
Just like with Seinfeld, they had to bring in Elaine so it wouldn't just appeal to the men in the audience.

So if somebody on here says they have a crush on Penny, they're probably just joking around to get a reaction out of people such as yourself. But if he isn't kidding, then it's for the reasons I mentioned above.

It's okay, man, we're not pedophiles. And he was just joking around. You can talk to us.

reply

Yes,

When I was 8 or 9 I def had a crush on her.

specially that ultra-high tech hacker book she had.

How many girls that age were into electronics?

not many when I was that age!

reply

"When I was 8 or 9 I def had a crush on her."

I think many of us did. See, she was what we call a "character". A "character" is what you found on classic shows like this. You won't find "characters" on many of the new cartoons out today. Tragic, but true.

It wasn't just Penny's nature we liked, but her heroism, and even her musical themes plucked a few heart strings. I mean, when you heard the tune that played during Penny's scenes, it changes the mood of the episode.

sick? how?

reply

sick? how?

Exactly. She isn't real. She is a cartoon character, although one designed with a cute appearance.

reply

Yeah, I mean, its just a little girl, but why does she gets kidnapped in amlost every episode? its obviously done on purpose, but its like 15 episodes (or maybe less) she gets kidnapped in, and thats a little disturbing.

reply

Because technically shes the real hero of the show. Shure theres gadget but he's comic relief, Penny is always solving the cases and somehow making it look like Gadget did it.

As for attractivness for me its more a respect that a show that old had a character like that.

reply

I had a girlfriend who looked A LOT like her when I was 15, even the same shoe type.

reply

I had a crush on her when I was a kid. I like to think she grew up hot.
