someone please help me out here

When I was younger I saw an episode of what I think was the Hitchhiker and the show was about a guy that goes back his childhood cottage or something where when he was a kid a girl drowned in the lake and he couldnt help because he couldnt swim. Years later he goes back and finds the little girls blond hair in the lake. If anybody knows what show this is, please let me know. Ive thought about it for years and cant figure it out. I do think its the Hitchhiker though.
