DVD?
I saw the dvd's on amazon and was interested in buying, but it has 3 volumes each 10 episodes but imdb says there's 85 episodes? So is there supposed to be more volumes or did they never release them all. Hoping someone can clarify.
shareIt is irritating that all episodes aren't available on DVD. Thing is, less than half of the episodes were produced exclusively with HBO. The other half were by USA. Its probably a licensing issue. But, good news is that you can watch all 85 episodes for free on imdb. Have fun watching!

Let's just hope they don't screw this up! With the first three episodes having Nicholas Campbell's scenes re-shot with Page Fletcher, and with all the HBO episodes undergoing editing to remove nudity/language for US syndication (and reruns on USA Network), there is great potential for Alliance to screw this up if they accidentally pull some of the wrong master tapes off the shelf!
Koch even messed up their previous release of the season 1 episodes, by including a "Page Fletcher" version of one of the original three "Campbell" episodes. They probably just used whatever tapes Alliance sent to them and weren't aware of the mistake (until it was too late).
Too bad they're not releasing this in two halves: The HBO episodes and the USA episodes. That way, fans (like myself) who never cared for the USA seasons could skip those and save some money.
I know I will be paying close attention to the Canadian release. If they are in fact the unedited, original shows, I won't hesitate to order them.
I have not tried watching the episodes that are linked to the IMDB site yet because of my slow Internet link. Are they the edited (syndicated) version?

The Canadian release of the first 3 seasons is extremely hard to find. When it pops up for auction is goes for lots of money. Thanks god I got mine back in 2004.
It's half and half. Most of the HBO episodes are edited versions, but others aren't.

A couple of weeks ago we reported that Alliance Films Media would release The Hitchhiker - The Complete Collection on DVD in Canada, for CA$57.99 SRP, and that you can pre-order it from Amazon.ca at a discount. At the time Amazon's listing shows a ship date of May 24th, but now this entry has been updated with a new release date of August 9th. No reason is known for the delay, and we're still waiting for the studio to make their official announcement and provide package art. Stay tuned for that! Our thanks to reader Alexis Torra for tipping us off about the change.
