did the music on the dvd change?

i definitely remembered that the music from city of the edge of midnight changed when the nightwalker dies, the music from the original went so well with that part, it was so suspenseful but it was replaced with some music that made it sort of a letdown for me.

Yes the music is replaced with the score from the first season on those DVDs but on the Region 2 set the original Season 2 & 3 music is left intact, and I know a lot of people are annoyed by this and who can blame them! It's a bit like stripping away a part of your childhood although I don't really remember that music as much as the Season 1 stuff which sticks in my mind more.

Yes, music tracks on certain episodes were altered, due to disney's warped sense of humour.

I recommend ordering the dvd set from UK, they had sense enough to leave the episodes alone. Bear in mind these are region 2 discs, so unless you have a multi region dvd player, the discs wont work.

I sent a nasty letter to Disney when I saw what they did when I ordered the US set, they claimed it was due to copyright issues, which that is an obvious lie, seeing how the UK didnt have any issues releasing it to dvd.

Well there you go! I guess they didn't like Robert J. Walsh's music very much. I didn't think there was anything wrong with his music it was great!

I recently received the now out of print Ink & Paint/BCI Dungeons & Dragons box set from amazom.com

And i can say next to the region 2 set both have music changed on them in small and big ways.

While the music tracks are the same for episodes on the region 2 set the episode title card music is different for many of them, most notably one of my favorite episodes where i noticed the most significant change with; "The Hall Of Bones" title card which has muted *low-ebbed* rumbling 'base' drum roll music on the DVD version.

"The Hall Of Bones" of the region 1 title card has the original chiming sounding synthesizer sound music on the title card etc. Its the little things that make the big difference years later when you find out you need to own two sets of DVD's to have what you originally looked at, as a child etc. Think i'll leave the opening intro sequence to another thread cos, oh boy, is that another issue entirely, lol. Yes, many changes there too with music and actual footage once again!

Can I trouble you for a link to the specific set you mean?

Some has said that one of the UK Region 2 sets has the Season 2 Opener as a special feature. Do you know which one?

I live in Scotland so that means we have the region 2 release of the show. I don't recall any musical changes to anything. Maybe it's as some above said the region 2 escaped the massacre of the musical score unlike other regions. The show is as I remembered from my childhood. A classic if ever there was one.

Not just D&D.
Several shows from the 90s have had their soundtracks sometimes heavily altered when the were re-released because the companies do not want to renegotiate the contract and have to pay the original composer. They essentially pocketed the royalties.
