Did they ALWAYS go back for the unicorn?

Memories of this cartoon are hazy at best, but in a conversation today it was posited that every time there was the possibility of a way out, they went back for the unicorn because "it wouldn't survive in their world" or something.

Yay or neigh?

Nope.

They even left Uni behind once or twice.

But invariably they had to destroy or leave a portal, or on occasion someone else wrecked it, or it was a one-shot deal.

There are even I think at least two, episodes where a portal was not involved.

Howdy

Actually there is one episode that i can remember where Uni actually goes home with the gang in the Bogbeast episode.. When the kids ride on the log in the river that flows upside down, the gang makes it back to the amusement park and Uni is with them but they go back to the realm because they did not want to leave Eric alone in the realm as a Bogbeast

I just did a watch through and tally.

Out of 27 episodes they actually crossed through fully three times. Of those three times once they took Uni with them. The others not.

Never once did they return because of Uni and at least three times they told Bobby "No" Uni could not come with them.

Of the times they returned. Once was for Erik, Once was because Venger followed them and they could not leave him on Earth, and once to save someone else.
