Bananaman the Movie!

If anything was calling out for a film version, this is it. Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright should do it after Hot Fuzz.

They could do a whole series of 80s cartoon movies.

I think Danger Mouse would work as animated series again. Maybe with CGI animation. Bananaman was less successful I think, but the idea could be strange enough to fill out an 80 minute movie. It'd be good is Graeme Garden and Bill Oddie wrote it with Tim Brook-Taylor (even though they didn't write the original series!). Their humour would fit it well.

Bananman the Movie: Young Eric Twinge ages twenty years and is enabled to fly after eating a batch of genetically modified bananas. Meanwhile renegade General Blight is planning to destroy all crops in the UK and Europe and monopolise the fruit and veg industry.

Eric Twinge: Jack P. Shepherd (coronation Street's David PLatt)

Bananaman: Phillip Glenister

General Blight: John Challis

Fiona (a newsreader): Ann Marie Duff

I want to play Bananaman. Was my favourite cartoon by far as a kid.

Just came across this thread, and have to admit that your post is genius, velvoofell. For the first time ever, I found myself laughing out loud at something I found on here; John Challis (aka Boycie from OFaH) as General Blight would be superb! We can but hope!

Fantastic idea after all this is the time of the Superhero in Hollywood must be a couple of MILL US$ lying around one of the studio's that can be used , call up Jason Isaacs too must be a part somewhere for him then Mark Kermode would be onside and we are set.

I honestly think a live action bananaman movie would be a right good laugh!

With all these superhero movies made and in production, a live-action movie of this would be a refreshing mockery. I think it would stand out.
It's more clever than that poncy "Superhero Movie" they did, which was an appauling 'try hard' go at those kind of movies.

See, I'm not a monster...I'm just ahead of the curve.

This is the first post I've replied to on here and I couldn't agree more. Live action Bananaman! We should try and force Simon Pegg to make it.

Don't have a well known name/ face playing Bananaman as he's just a guy in a mask and constume who turns up to do the hero stuff. What matters is finding the right 11 year old boy to play Eric. Kinda like how what matters isn't who can look good in a Spider-Man costume but who can do a good job playing Peter Parker.

Make the movie about Eric discovering that when he eats a banana he transforms into a muscle bound superhero, and his quest to discover how he ended up with this amazing ability.

Along the way he gets in way over his head as he clashes with General Blight and his shady army unit.

Cast a well known actor as General Blight. Mark Strong would be my current favourite.

That is all.
