How old are they supposed to be?

I haven't seen this show in years, and I was wondering if anyone knows how old the chipmunks/chipettes are.

In the beginning of the series they are roughly seven or eight years old, by the time near the end of the series "The Chipmunks" and "Chipmunks Go to the Movies" they're about eleven or twelve.

I thought they acted eight in Chipmunk years but were actually only three.

I would say no older than 8-10.

It varies. Sometimes they are eight, but they've been as old as ten or twelve, then during the eight season they went back to eight again (according to "Bigger" anyway).

I think between 7-10 years old;old enough to be going to school but young enough to wear feetie pajamas to bed.I thought it was silly how they were supposed to be chipmunks and yet they were the size of the humans of the same age.It was as if they were human boys trapped in chipmunk costumes or something.At least in the movie that came out 5-10 years ago,and the sequel,I presume, the chipmunks were the size of normal chipmunks.

In Season 8 (the last Season), it was said that they are 8.

One episode mentioned them as just about to finish up the third grade, so that would put them at about eight or nine years old.
