ON A GERMAN-DUBBED 'DVD' FORMAT.....
BUT ANYHOOO, DOES ANYONE KNOW WHEN, IF EVER, THIS MOVIE MAYBE COMING OUT ON 'DVD'?
OR IF ANY "ZAPPED!" FAN, OUT THERE, MAY HAD ALREADY DIGITIZED THE FILM FROM 'VHS' VIDEO INTO A 'DVD-R'(recordable disc)....?

The best version available on DVD is the Japanese import from Studio Canal.
The picture quality is crisp and you get a movie booklet free as well.
Downside is that it's been slightly cropped giving the movie a widescreen look but it's not too distracting.
Japanese subtitles are removeable as is a japanese dubbed soundtrack.

I heard that there is confusion as to who owns the copyright, if any, as it seems to have expired.
There was a cinema screening a few years ago in NY and a camera crew were apparently filming for DVD extras.
Don't be surprised if it gets a 25th anniversary release next year.
Yeah, that would be nice. I bought a VHS years ago after seeing it butchered on Comedy Central. Nice to own it in some form. I figure stuff from the same time like HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME coming out is a good sign. Hopefully they can keep the soundtrack intact.
This film reminds me about how exciting it was having commercial-free, unedited movies on HBO. That was a special time. I was at a perfect age. Just a blast!

I agree! I love this film! I laugh my butt off every time I see the scene with the model ship flying around the room!And the scene with the dummy.
