The heroes in this movie are awful

I saw this recently and I couldn't believe that the main characters were supposed to be the good guys. What's her name Jane? They treat her so badly in this film. Peyton (a complete jerk) sets up a secret camera and shows her boyfriend the pictures that he took of her without her consent so he could rub it in his face? The boyfriend gets angry and all hell breaks loose (obviously) then she throws a watermelon at Peyton (as she should) but accidentally hits Barney and Barney (the pervert) retaliates by ripping all her clothes off in front of the entire prom. What a creep! And he did that earlier in the film too! These misogynistic nerds are supposed to be the heroes? They're the biggest a-holes in the movie!

I guess you're right, at least Peyton is a bit of a jerk. He even manages to upset his best friend.
The thing with Jane is all through the film she comes across as a bit mean. She only speaks two lines to Barney and one of them is a taunt about him having no one to take to the prom.
She's back and forth with her attitude towards Peyton depending on what she can get out of him.
Sure, the photo he took was sleazy and he did deserve a bit of payback, but Jane's smug look of satisfaction when she hits Barney instead of Peyton with the melon was her undoing.
In the heat of the moment Barney did what he thought best.... rip all of Jane's clothes off and humiliate her.
To be fair he didn't strip her completely, he let her keep her stockings, suspender belt and gloves. So he wasn't all bad!!
