After the movie ended, I was like 'What the *beep*

This is one of the most interesting movies Ive seen but I was just weirded out by it. Yes, it is a chronicle about a man who led a not so ordinary life but I dont know...the whole things pretty odd.

"Garp" seems like a movie that can't decide if it's a comedy or a drama. It reminds me of "Sea of Love" in that respect. Just when you get used to it being one way, it flips in the other direction, badly so. Both are good films but it's somewhat annoying. It also had one of those open ended conclusions as to what happened and I don't like those either. I mean, come on, did he or didn't he?

reply

I have no problems with open ended conclusions as long as the whole movie makes a lot of sense :)

Have any of you read the book? If you had the film would make perfect sense.

A film needs to stand on its own in order to be good. I shouldn't have to read the book in order to experience a good story.

You don't have to read the book in order to experience a good story. But reading the book on which the screenplay was based would enrich the experience

If you hadn't noticed life is both comedy and drama.
