Why isn't this on DVD yet?

I buy alot of PBS concerts like this one and I remember this was a PBS "drive" special at one time. I enjoyed this concert/documentary very much. I own a copy of "WTAT" on laser disc but would love to see it on DVD. If anyone out there knows why we haven't seen this yet on DVD, or who we could write to.....please post. Thanks

I am sorry to change the subject but can you tell me if there is any place where I can find the 1955 Carnegie Hall concert on VHS or DVD? My grandfather is begging me to find footage of the Weavers singing "Wimmoweh."

There's a new documentary, also directed by Jim Brown, called PETE SEEGER: THE POWER OF SONG, that is supposed to include some never-before-seen footage. Maybe what you're looking for is there.

Perhaps the music rights are keeping WASN'T THAT A TIME off of DVD? I would love to see this film be released on DVD, especially with some extra features.

Man, I'd like to know that, too. I can't tell you how many people I've recommended this movie to, but they just can't find it anywhere.

I found it here: http://store.earthstation1.com/the-weavers-wasn39t-that-a-time-dvd-1981-docum391981.html . I'll buy it unless there's a better one some place?

I suspect that the earthstation "DVD" is probably a burned DVD-R. I normally frown on that, but WASN'T THAT A TIME is hardly available anywhere. The PBS pledge drive DVD was expensive ($150.00), and quickly went out of print.

The PBS version deleted the two-minute sequence in which we see several different artists performing "This Land is Your Land" around the world. The sequence was probably deleted due to music rights issues. It did appear in the older VHS and laserdisc releases of the film.

We really need a proper Blu-ray or DVD of the film to be more widely available, hopefully with the missing "This Land is Your Land" sequence included.
