Out of Australia

If you've seen films like Out of Africa (1985), Piano (1993) or Australia (2008), then We of the Never Never (1982) might seem kind of familar. A white woman goes from civilization into a frontier country and after some initial troubles starts to love this wild place. But you notice that all these other films were actually made later than We of the Never Never. So it's possible they borrowed from Never Never. What was missing from Never never was a love story between the lady and some local man - I mean she had a husband, of course, but I kind of expected she would get it on with some other man too. But in the end, I think, it was better without an additional love story, more time for the fantastic scenery and aboriginals.
