Intentional Stunt Or Accident?

About 75 minutes into the film, where Hunter (Michael Beck) is attacking the Battletruck compound in his fortified volkswagon dune buggy, there is a quick shot where it looks like someone was actually run-over in a bad way. The shot is like this: An extra/stuntman, who was firing from behind two blue barrels, falls down onto the ground into the foreground of the camera frame as if he has been gunned down. Hunter's car comes around the corner of the two barrels, perhaps too tightly, clips one and then runs right up onto the feet and legs of the fallen stuntman, pushing his face and body forward into the ground. The film quickly cuts away. It didn't look fake and judging by the momentum of the car, it was going to drive all the way over him and it seemed like it would seriously injure the guy. Perhaps the car was suppose to miss the guy but cut it too hard and ran up onto him. I was just very curious if anyone else noticed this and if it was on purpose or not; and if the guy was injured.

Yeah, I've seen that shot. You can see it here too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-Gw0nliA1M
The very moment you describe happens at 7m23s into the clip, and it's still painful to watch. I can only imagine it was an accident - and hope that the stuntman wasn't too upset by a VW beetle driving over his nuts.

There is such a quick cutaway that you have to assume the worst. If the man was laying flat and the tire avoided his joints he might not have had a bone break.
But still, YIKES!

I noticed this too. To be honest I thought it was intentional but with the limited budget of the movie, probably a good chance it was a mistake.
