'Victor's' stern face


I never understood why, when 'Victor' takes off the wig after each performance, Julie Andrews makes this sad stone-face. She is clearly enjoying herself with the applause and flowers, and then she seems sad when non-verbally stating, "Yes, I am actually a man in drag." This part always makes me think and wonder why the film makers made this particular choice.

I just think she was trying to adopt what she perceived to be a "masculine" expression.
