I should have known...

From the opening scene I should have realized this was not the kind of movie I'd be interested in seeing. I've always suspected that but I decided to record to DVR because I noticed Andrews and Garner were in it. Unfortunately, neither of them made up for how much I disliked everything else about the movie. I don't know what they were thinking to appear in something like this. It's simply awful!

Well, farces aren't some people's cup of team.

That doesn't make it an "awful" movie-just one that you don't particularly enjoy.

On its own, this statement may be true but it has no relation to what I said. Disliking this movie, which may be considered a farce, is not a condemnation of the entire genre.

I realize other people may have their own opinions on the merits of the movie but I was expressing my opinion. In my opinion the movie was awful and not worth watching so that's what I said. If someone asked me whether or not they should see it I'd give them a general idea of what it was about and tell them honestly what I thought. Obviously, they would be free to make up their own minds.

If they saw the movie and enjoyed it, great! I don't need everyone to agree with me but if they saw the movie and thought it was awful, my conscience would be clear. I wouldn't feel I'd sent them to see something I thought was terrible; causing them to waste their valuable time and money. Sugarcoating it would serve no purpose.

I saw this movie many times in the 80s and just purchased it from Comcast today. I still think the movie is terrific. Some fun dance/song numbers and great performances by all the leads. But as another poster indicated earlier, we all have different tastes in movies.
