I didn't get that she was a businesswoman. I thought it was implied that she had been a prostitute for some years.

Good question, but there's no other way to explain her nice house. Maybe she moonlighted as a prostitute between ventures.
shareShe'd been a prostitute for five years. She said she had to turn to tricking to pay the bills. But she does dress nice and owns her own home. Maybe having that kid made her day job insufficient to keep up and she changed professions. But, no, I don't remember anyone saying that she was previously a businesswoman in the woman.
