Which was to be into computers from the Sinclair ZX81 onwards, together with Superman III, another underrated classic concerning computers.

Other than the computer being central to the plot, yeah, no, I don't see it.

It was the early 80s. There was quite a lot programming going into our minds to start embracing computers as an inalienable part of our lives from here on. Other movies from the period that heralded what TIME Magazine voted its person of the year in 1983:
Wargames, Weird Science,
Electric Dreams.

This movie and Wargames (1983)influenced millions of young boys (and some girls) into computing from my generation.
