Is TRON a kids movie?

IDK, I have always wondered why TRON was put under the Disney name. It's not that it's "inappropriate," it's not bloody or sexual or anything, it's just a very mature story that I can't see kids getting into.

It's more of a teen movie, in my opinion. I'm not sure of Disney's thinking behind it at the time. Maybe they were trying to get away from their "child friendly" image.

It was put under the Disney name because Disney made it and there was no other name at the time. It wasn't until later that they created the Touchstone Pictures label.

It's an old fashioned adventure film like they used to make prior to the 1970s. The films weren't specifically made for children, but you could take a relatively mature grade schooler to one of those movies, and he could watch it.

That's the kind of film TRON is. But, it also has the trademarked Disney film making style. Therefore it's a little stiff here and there, but the story and setting really just make you ignore those moments.

It really is a magnificent film.

One of the best films ever made.

Saw it when I was 10 and loved it ever since. Always thought of it as a grown up movie because no children are ever shown except in the arcade scene, and that only lasts a few seconds.

Depends on the kid.

I was 10 when it came out, really into movies & video games (sports too) so it was a perfect fit for me.
