Didn't anyone find anything in this movie funny?

"U. A$$."

"Master Bates."

Richard Pryor plays a waitress. The Wonder Wheel routine. Just the dark comedy related to the race issue can be funny... as long as you're not laughing with a black person in the room. It sure makes a clever statement about that horrible 1% I swear, people today don't have a sense of humor. People today would rather have Will Ferrill doing absolutely nothing that is remotely funny.

I did. We watched it all the time. RP should have liked it better. It was one of his better works.

How about when Jack was in the spiderman pajamas cursing off Mr. Bates lol! Also the oatmeal slime Eric dumps on Jack's head and Jack starts cursing up a storm. 

The hidden subtext is that Richard Pryor normally swears like a drunken sailor, both in his standup and his personal life.

But in a kids movie he can't swear, so every time he's the receiving end of a cruel prank he grunts and huffs and stammers and fumbles his language, which makes it more funny because you get the sense that he's holding it in to show that Eric can't push his buttons, when in actual fact he's holding in about 200 f-bombs.

I think that comedy in this has dated. But it does have it's moments. I liked Mr Brown and Fancy as characters. But Scoop got on my nerves.

The problem was the kid was a brat. Why would we then want to see Pryor being his toy?
