Just a trivial mention ...
Jack Brown talks to the kid about "truth, justice, and the American way." The Superman connection is that line along with stars Richard Pryor and Ned Beatty, plus a costume on the closet.

Here's some other trivia:
1. Pryor would eventually do Superman 3.
2. Ned Beatty was in the first two Supermans, the first directed by the same guy who directed this-Richard Donner.
