Sydney Pollock

Just saw this movie again and enjoyed it. But what stood out was how terrific Sydney Pollock is as an actor. He was brilliant. I think he stole every scene he was in. Anyone know of other directors who put themselves in a movie and do a great job? (and I'm not talking about actor who also direct-more directors who happen to be able to act).

i may think of some examples and repost later.

but if you read his bio he was an actor for a while before he began directing.

either way i love pollock so much, he's always good. and i agree his acting is very appealing. he has a disarming, approachable type of aura like your always kind non-judgemental grandad or older uncle, the one you can always trust to never slam you or turn aggressive.

i love sydney's movies but i always liked it even more when he put himself in a role. beyond that, he had a great nose for a good story. this is the guy who brought us three days of condor. nuff said!!!!

And he's dead.

I played an endive salad that knocked the critics on their ass! LOLOL

He was good. It's a pity that he didn't make many more appearances in movies instead of just directing them. He interacted with Dustin Hoffman very well.

all of the scenes he is in are my favorites. especially the Russian tea room.
