This movie was boring the 2011 prequel was better

The practical effects were nice and all as was the idea of The Thing itself but the way it plays out in this film was honestly boring mainly because the characters are very flat and the ending was incredibly underwhelming as was the final act as a whole. Only thing this has over the 2011 prequel is that the practical effects are better than the CGI used in that movie. On every other aspect the prequel is superior.

Lol.

Glad you agree.

reply

I don't, that's why I'm laughing

reply

You are laughing because you have no arguments to the contrary.

reply

I'm laughing because I don't agree with you, as I have already stated.

Troll post.

reply

You can't refute my argument so call it a troll post, predictable.

reply

You didn't make an "argument," you trolling jackass. You simply belched out a few unexplained opinions.

I think you are wrong but I do understand. The basic flaw in this movie is that the characters don't have enough time to grow as individuals or as a group. It still works because the actors are all very good and they make themselves as distinct as possible with what material they have. I have always thought that the characters in Aliens were much more immediately memorable while I didn't start remembering the characters in The Thing till I had seen it a couple of times.
But then I always thought it was a mistake to make the move a sort of sequel to a movie nobody actually made. It would have worked quite well with the discovery of the alien ship by the men of Outpost 31. So, feel free to ignore me.

HERES THE DIFFERENCE...THE ORIGINAL IS A SMART,BROODING HORROR/SCI-FI MASTERPIECE FILLED WITH TIGHT ACTING AND AMAZING EFFECTS AND TENSION...THE PREQUEL/REBOOT IS LOUD,STUPID,SPELLED OUT AND DUMBED DOWN...IM GLAD YOU ENJOY YOUR CHOICE.

Exactly, I agree with you Kowalsi, the sequal.. I don't even bother considering it "the Thing prequel" sooo rushed,, so badly filled with terrible CGI.... no imagination.. and to add insult to injury.. adding Americans to a Norwegian base to make it like the americans are heros again.... sooo pathetic..!

I don't think this movie calls for dramatic depth in its characters; in fact, that would just get in the way of the story. All that we really need to know about them is what we're given, and it's more than sufficient. The primary driver here is fear & paranoia & relentlessly mounting dread. And the film pulls it off superbly.

i respectfully disagree, sir.

I liked them both.

reply

Me too. But The prequel isn't even close to being as good.

Posting in a troll thread.

You have to be astonishingly simple minded to actually believe that.

I like the prequel but it's got nothing on Carpenters film which is a classic.
