So basically, 'Alien?'

I saw this movie and it seem to fell in line with the 'Alien' series... The similarities between this film and 'Alien' should be obvious without me having to list them. I don't think they are that fundamentally different. But both films are derived from sci-fi/horror archetypal stories. However, I must say the special effects, especially the Thing puppet/animatronics, is far more impressive and innovative than anything I have seen in the 'Alien' series.

"This movie is a ripoff of Alien, however I will not back up my claim whatsoever."

What a clown post.

lol, you nailed it.

By his own posts end, he states that the special effects is "far more impressive and innovative than anything in the alien series" so he states by HIS OWN WORDS that its not "basically Alien"

xD

I think he shouldve read his own post before submitting it

Most times people say things like "ripoff of ____" it's an extremely weak argument. Both movies are about aliens? Ripoff!

I’ve never seen the two films as anything but sharing a genre. They’re tonally completely different - The Thing is a fun comic book with lashings of gore to appeal to teenage boys. Alien is a deadly serious, nasty, nihilistic future space horror with an arthouse vibe, full of phallic and rape imagery.

The story The Thing is based on was written in 1938, so I’d say no.
