best line

25 years later I still use the line from the movie where he says. Look at my face I'm an oriental.

When the Mafia guy asks about the meatballs being so tasty and whats in them. Bruce replies "Dog Meat". Then says he's joking.

That just cracks me up.

I remember those lines from the movie and it has been a long time since I have seen it. Why hasn't any stations shown this movie? I keep hoping that someone would but they have not done that other than USA UP ALL NIGHT.

Yeah that is a good line all right scott_thai!

Back in the 80's, my favorite line was, "I'm not gonna try it. Hey,lets get Mikey". This commercial for LIFE cerial was still running on T.V. at that time, so it made it even more funny.

"this machine only know how to eat. Must be constipated."

Best part of the movie - without question is when he pulls out and read "Jive talk by yo Mama."

Yes those are some good lines there in the movie! Especially when the black guys are trying to teach him how to talk like a brother. LOL Usually I see black guys trying to teach white girls on how to talk like they are black where I live at. I have seen it done with some friends of mine hitting on some white girls before.

Oh yes! That is a great line from a commercial back during the late 70's and a good part of the mid 80's that Toyota loved to use in their commercials! That was a great line in the movie too that they used for a line.

Yes I very much remember that commercial and noticed this when I watched They Call Me Bruce last night for the first time in a very long time. Yes that was a favorite line of mine as well back during the 80's. It was hilarious too used in the film all right.

The last time I saw this movie on cable TV where I live at in Central Illinois was back when USA Network did not sell out to NBC and the programming was 100X better than what it is now after NBC buying it out.

I connect to this movie so much having been one of maybe three Asians ("Orientals", at the time) in a nearly all-white school and the only well-known Asian was Bruce Lee. People really did call me Bruce.

Being the smallest in the class year after year, I was often picked on. However, also being Asian probably got me out of potential trouble too, for some feared I may have known some kind of martial art.

To this day, I still say, "Look at my face, I'm an Oriental" to people for a laugh, as most people I know have not seen or even heard of this movie.

Side notes: My cousin played the young boy http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0521829/ in the beginning of the film and in response to the Texan character in the bar who asked Bruce if his name was "Wong or Dong", my real last name is indeed Dong. Can't even begin to describe the hell I've been through with that name.

And yes, I love "Sixteen Candles" but I hate the fact John Hughes picked that name for his Asian character. :)

That is good that you can connect to this movie in a lot of ways. I sure do have to say though that the times have changed a lot because when I was growing up as a kid there were very few ethnic cultures where I live at. As time went on and every year that I would advance to another grade I did start to see things begin to change especially when I got into junior high and high school. The hispanic population is starting to grow a lot more where I live even though I do not see that many Latinos in school though. Even with me in college I still do not see that many latinos and I am getting ready to turn 40 in March.

COOL That you still use the line from the film where he says, "Look at my face! I'm an oriental."

In this film there are tons of famous lines taken from commercials that were popular during the 70's and 80's that I noticed and loved too. Like for example, at the martial arts dojo you see the instructor trying to talk Bruce into punching his fist through the wall. Bruce does not want to do that and so the instructor has to do it. Then Bruce says, "Let Mikey do it he will try anything!" Plus another line is that I noticed that I used a lot when I was a kid was, "Thanks! I needed that!" I am sure there are more quotes from the movie that we could all mention about.
