Lost gem indeed

I recently 'rediscovered' this film and was lucky enough to receive it on DVD for Christmas. To my surprise, I actually DIDN'T forget what an INCREDIBLE film it was/is. I'm still able to quote 50% of the film outright and I haven't seen it in 15 years - that should give you some clue as to how great it is, and how much heart it has.

I also like the fact it's 'unknown' (to say the least). But, to me, it's still a little TOO unknown - I wish at least a few more people out there realized it existed and just how well put together it is.

Incredible writing, acted out wonderfully by five of the best actors I've ever had the honor to watch on screen.

One amazing film. See it.

Glad to see that people appreciate this film. I was born and raised in Scranton. I believe that the coach in the film was modeled after my high school coach's football coach. (Who was also my father's coach). My father would tell stories about him and one day the coach visited our football team at half time to give us a pep talk. All of the characters in the film feel like people I know. In fact, when my friends and I get together, it reminds me of the film. We tell stories of our glory days, as if the great moments of our lives had passed us by but remain alive in our memories. I'm the only one of my friends who made it out of that city. It's a poignant film for me.

Cool story - thanks for posting.

And I wish more people knew about Jason Miller in general as well...
