Negrito or Rowdy?

In the book, the horse's name is Negrito. In the movie, it's name is Rowdy. Did anyone else notice this? If you did, can you tell me why they did this?

When Tex goes to get the horse back the little girl called him Gentelman instead of Rowdy. She was even calling him that. You can change an animal's name but it'll take a while for them to get used to it.

True, they used her horse, but he was called Toyota. Hinton said in the intereviews, conducted by Teresa Miller:

Negrito in Tex is based on my horse Toyota. (...) Toyota played Tex's horse in the movie and did a wonderful job. He loved the movie making process. (...) And he adored Matt Dillon, Tex. Matt came in early, and I gave him riding lessons for a couple of weeks.

The horse in the book is black (Blackie in Spanish)
Hinton's horse was a bay, so a name change was needed.

and ironically in the movie Mason's horse, who was never seen on screen was named Toyota. So they named Mason's unseen horse after the horse that portrayed the seen horse, that was named Rowdy for the movie. Haha kind of weird.
