Who Owns The Rights Now??

If anyone has any information or can find out any information about who currently owns the rights to this great film, please post the information! I've been looking, but it seems like it gets complicated. Companies behind this film has changed hands, etc. Come on people, help get the ball rolling on this so we at least know who to write and talk to about getting this released to dvd. Burned dvd-r copies and old vhs tapes are nice, but we want it released in stores, remastered, etc!

New World released it and I think that menas Disney owns it now.

Original righs owners (for distribution only) were Avco Embassy. As is the case with many Embassy pictures, the film is not available on DVD. Once Embassy folded (approximately 1986) the film was thrust into obscurity. To my knowledge, no studio re-upped the rights and re-released this movie. ot even on SLP or EP mode VHS. Unfortunately, the original run of Embassy VHS cassettes is all we have left. A good company to petission would be Anchor Bay. They seem to specialize in the resurrection of obscure titles of this era. If it ever sees the light of day, I know I will buy a fresh copy.

I would buy a couple of copies! And I have a dvd-r transfer of it! But I would love to own an original!! Certainly would buy at least two copies. One I would keep sealed forever. Awesome film that I have been a fan of since the 80's.

Still waiting!

Looks like it could be a possibility that Lionsgate may hold the DVD rights to this now.

StudioCanal owns it. Their website is here for you to read about them: http://www.studiocanal.com/en

They have not defended their title against trademark infringement which is why so many Hong Kong and Chinese companies have put put unauthorized DVDs. They have never released anything for Tag since acquiring it nor have any intention of remastering or releasing any DVD for TAG. Dvds are on the way out anyway so if they refused when DVDs were new on the scene they certainly won't now.

All you can do is obain a bootleg DVD. The original VHS are still out there but people want a great deal for them.

According to a recent interview with Kristine DeBell in Shock Cinema magazine issue #49, the clearance rights are all tied up with several people involved in the production and hence will never be resolved sometime soon.

In fact, Ms. DeBell opines that the film will never be released on DVD. One of the original owners is now deceased, which is a stumbling block for the surviving partners.
