Fantastic 80s haunted house flick

This film deserves more credit than is given. Certainly one of the more interesting takes on the old haunted house tale. If you haven't seen it yet, I highly suggest you check it out.

Ugh, I hated every minute of it, and I usually love films from this period - even cheesy ones like Madman. It never tried to create an eery atmosphere, the musical score was clumsy and poorly adapted to the action, and the actors all phoned it in. All this dampened what shocks and suspense there might have been.

I generally feel that supernatural horror films need to to take their time and build a creepy atmosphere. Here, the supernatural is a shallow excuse for a series of lazily conceived murders.

I agree. Saw it for the first time tonight on TCM and was in disbelief at how good it was! Every scene was eerie and the gore was imaginative.
This is obviously one of the greatest b-horror movies ever made.
