i heard things

i heard today that this movie was rated xxx because real human cadavers were used for the death scenes is this true???

reply

Complete and utter garbage, they're harmless make-up fx.

reply

Yeah it's nonsense. The only stiffs in this movie are the cast.

I worked at a movie theater in high school and my first year of college, and we got this terrible movie. Superstition was not rated XXX. Actually, it came to US theaters without any rating so the policy was to not admit anyone under the age of 18.

If they used a cadaver, it was the most rubbery cadavers in cinema.

The Microwaved Head looked superfake (bright interior microwave lights), but physics would not allow the Microwaved Head to pop like that. It would be slow inflation, but mostly cooking into a burnt leather-type material and then the brains popping or oozing out of the burst eye sockets, ear holes, and out of the mouth. The reason being that human flesh is not like an uncooked egg in a shell.

If steam pressure built up inside the skull, it would simply push itself out through the easiest open holes (the eye sockets being the primary exit) like the eyes, the nose, the ear holes and even back into the spinal column (which is an open oozing wound with a decapitated head). Such an experience to witness would be gross for the smell alone, but it wouldn't pop like an uncooked egg being microwaved.

-------

The next notable fake body was in the elevator shaft kill.
The body snaps up, but it is so stiff, lightweight, and fakey it probably would not be anything more complex than a mannequin. They then cut to a face shot of the dead electrician with a fake-hanged look (which requires no taunt rope).

--------

The dead electrician's body in the room of the Caretaker's Son it is actually massively cheaper to have the real actor play that dead body role and reusing the mannequin for the short ceiling drop scare.

There is no such thing as a "XXX" rating. And no, everything in this movie is fake (but very well done).

reply

I've seen a few XXX films in my time. They exist.
