Soundtrack's track listing

According to my vinyl LP of the soundtrack, here's the info: It was released in the U.S. in 1983 by A&M Records (SP-4938). The track listing is as follows:

Startstruck Overture --The Swingers
Starstruck --The Swingers
Gimme Love --The Swingers
Temper Temper --Jo Kennedy
It's Not Enough --Jo Kennedy
Tough --John O'May & Jo Kennedy
Humming A Tune --Mental As Anything
I Want To Live In A House --Ross O'Donovan
Body And Soul --Jo Kennedy
My Belief In You --Jo Kennedy
Turnaraound --Turnaround
Monkey In Me --Jo Kennedy
Starstruck Finale --The Swingers

This is one of my fave soundtracks of all time, the new wave songs never cease to make me smile! Another soundtrack from that period that is HIGHLY recommended is "Party Party," also released on A&M around that time.

I have been looking for the soundtrack on CD for years, but to no avail. I am ecstatic, however, that the film has finally been released (just yesterday) on DVD in the United States. The releasing company is Blue-Underground and it appears that the extras are the same ones included on the Australian release. I'm hoping that this might eventually lead to a reissue of the soundtrack on CD, but we will just have to wait and see.

Unfortunately there is no CD release of it that I know of (at least in the U.S.) It's a matter of hunting the vinyl down on the net, through friends, and/or transferring it to CD for personal use...

I uploaded some mp3's here http://starstruck-aus.livejournal.com/

I have an old vinyl copy of the soundtrack in great shape after all these years. It has a stamp that it is loaned for promotional use only, not for sale. It initially belonged to my sisters boyfriend, but they broke up and she kept it. I inherited it from her years later when she no longer had a record player. Its an awesome soundtrack.

That is wild. I also had a promotional copy of the soundtrack back then. Shows how well it did in the US!

Thanks for posting the link to your blog entry, lalalarniii. Excellen mp3s, photos, et. al.

I see the vinyl copy of the Soundtrack for sale on ebay fairly regularly. I bought a copy that way.

I guess the soundtrack did not make a big splash, but the movie, when it was here in 83, made something of a minor sensation. I saw it three times in the theatre.

A&M released it in the states but the original soundtrack LP was on Mushroom Records (based in Melbourne, Australia) and featured a much cooler album cover which was far more similar to the Blue Underground DVD cover with the '80's digital neon look. Unfortunately the A&M version is the easiest and cheapest to find.
