Why did Scotty bring that dying Cadet up to the Bridge?
What was his thinking there?
If he'd taken him directly to sickbay instead of up to the Bridge - so everyone could have a good look at his burned up face first - could he have survived?

He was being a god damned drama queen. He wanted the attention and sympathy of everyone on board. He didn't give two shits about his nephew's life. 😡

He wanted to make sure to get a close up that Shatner couldn't talk the director out of for once

I always read that the cadet was supposed to be Scotty's nephew.
shareGreat question.
The only reason I can think of is that Scotty knew his nephew was "dead already" from radiation.
Scotty brought him up to the bridge to show the captain what those bastards did to his nephew...Scotty knew that this would motivate Kirk for good ol' fashion revenge.
It made no sense. Even if Scotty were emotional enough that he wasn't thinking clearly, why go to the bridge with his dying nephew? A classic case of a writer having a character do something nonsensical to create some drama.
shareMaybe they omitted the line where Scotty says "I carna hold him for much longer Captain!"
