I finally saw this film for the first time, it's pretty good - in general. It would be more interesting if they had more planet scenes, rather than almost the entire film taking place in the spaceship. Also....WHY did Ricardo Montalban have such a BAD hairstyle for this movie!? Even for 1982, it doesn't look right at all for a man his age. I remember when the film came out, many people laughed at the trailers for this movie because of that.
shareThe style, I think, is supposed to be a product of being stranded on a harsh world. It's not like there's a Great Clips around the block. Plus, he wore it long in the "Space Seed" episode, though pulled back most of the time as I recall.
Sure, he's a pair of spandex pants away from looking like the bassist for Stryper, but Montalban's performance here is epic.

Remember when the TV show "Entertainment Tonight" was not about celebrity tabloid stories but full of behind the scenes documentaries and interviews like they use as DVD extras now.
Ricardo was telling Mary Heart that
1. It was his real chest he did 200 pushups a day to prepare
2. To prepare for the Khan's death scene ware he has burns the on set hair stylist was singing his wig with a candle as Ricardo was wearing it. The Wig caught on fire and he jumped out of the chair and was running around with his wig on fire until he stuck his head under a facet
