Vicarious traumatisation

A child of just 4 years old does not experience reality in the way that adults do. The child was not a remarkable actress: she was feeling real terror, and she herself admits to this in her article in "Entertainment Weekly". The film was made in 1982, 33 years ago: it is an incredible film, there is no doubt about it, and yes, the horrors should not be minimised or hidden from the world. However, I wonder if the use of a 4 year old to act this part would be allowed today, or whether it would be classed as unethical and, possibly, abusive?
