DVD release?

Okay, I could swear a few weeks ago I read that this film was finally getting a Region 1 DVD release. I got all exicted about it and wrote it down on notes and in my journal and everything. But, now, I can't find any information about it online at all. Does anybody know what is going on?

I have been looking for this awhile, too, the only footage I have seen is from a compilation film called "Terror on Tape" from 1985. I don't know when (or if) there will be an official release but you can get a good dvd copy from www.revok.com. Hope this helps.

Okay, I saw on the Fangoria website that, on November 21st, Anchor Bay is releasing "Slayer," but I'm unsure as to if they mean "The Slayer" or the 2006 made-for-tv movie "Slayer."
I hope it's "The Slayer."

reply

Nevermind. It's the made-for-tv movie.

The dvd from vipco (basically a legal pirate company in england which dates back to the late 70s) is pretty good bar one scene where lines start coming up the screen you can get that on amazon.co.uk farely cheap i'd say

I have the rather cheap looking VIPCO release that is available here in the UK but it would be great if we could have a better quality release with improved sound/picture quailty. This rare horror flick is one of those gems that somehow "missed the boat" but is actually very good.

But is the dvd uncut.

The UK Vipco DVD is fully uncut and restores the 14 secs cut from the pitchfork murder.

Also the Vipco release presents the movie open matte(this was shot for 1.85)and looks pretty good when blown up on a 16:9 TV.OK so its dark and grainy but thats kind of in-keeping with the movie and apart from the one scene with the lines running through the print this is very watchable.Try and find the original Vipco release as the Screamtime Collection cover art sucks!

I hope this is on DVD eventually, because I can't find this gem anywhere. I used to be able to find it at a few independent video rental places, but they're all going out of business (even the prosperous ones) and big movie rental places like Hollywood and Blockbuster liquidated their VHS selection, even movies that are ONLY available on VHS. Congratulations, you stupid dumbasses, you depleted half of your fvcking selection to keep up with the times. There are movies that I'll never see ever again, because they sold them or whatever. If the retards at Hollywood had half a brain they would have kept the videos cassettes that had no DVD equivalent at each store. </rant>

This film is in dire need of a proper dvd release. I don't have a clue why it's being ignored. It's a pretty creepy and effective slasher film with an interesting concept. Come on Scorpian! And look into Hospital Massacre/To All A Goodnight too! Oh and Trick Or Treats :)
