A film I like even though it's terrible if you think about it

I assume it might have been prsented better in the novel, but the girl's wish that Mary Tyler Moore and Dudley Moore make eternal vows is the height of selfishness. I felt sorry for Dudley Moore's wife and son who were treated shabbily in this selfish fantasy from a dying girl who should be mature enpugh on some level to know any affair between Moore and Moore would be doomed to.failure and that Dudley has a family he will invariably return to.
