Georgia subs for Texas

Funny that this film and Smokey and the Bandit have some scenes that are supposed to take place in Texas but were definitely filmed in Georgia. I guess Georgia was cheaper to film in back then? I realize most of the film takes place there, so I guess it made sense just to sub a Georgia location in place of relocating the crew to Texas...
