It's a decent cowboy movie.

See you later.

Good review. This is one of the first Western/Civil War movies I ever saw. I saw it on Encore Westerns the other day and it is still a good movie.

You've never seen "Gettysburg"?
That had the most facial hair ever.
Including some of the worst fake beards.

Saying it's a decent movie is being kind. It's too clean a movie. the clothes they wear the way they talk ... it's simply too nice a looking movie. I watch it because of Sam Elliott. I'm not a huge Selleck fan. His acting is ok at best. I remember him in Magnum P.I. and laughed at how ridiculously bland he played Magnum. That t.v. series lasted eight painfully long seasons. I watched it until boredom set in and decided reading a dictionary was more stimulating. Anyway 'Shadow Riders' is no 'True Grit'.

It was more of a comedy than I had expected. I thought they smiled a bit too often. I grew a little tired of that by half way through.

This is the first that I've seen of Tom Selleck's earlier movies. I had been used to seeing him in the Jess Stone Series of TV movies. He is tough, grim and serious as Jesse Stone now that he has grown old. You might want to compare him in those movies to his Magnum days.

Sam Elliott looks good as a tough guy. I look forward to seeing more of his performances.

It has a Made for TV Movie feel to me.
