http://www.dvddrive-in.com/

And very soon at that...

"Legend Films has licensed a number of library titles from Paramount for DVD release. Of interest to DVD Drive-In readers include THE SKULL, ZPG, THE POSSESSION OF JOEL DELANEY, THE STUDENT BODIES, JEKYLL AND HYDE TOGETHER AGAIN, THE BUSY BODY, THE MAN WHO COULD CHEAT DEATH, PHASE IV, THE DEADLY BEES and THE SENDER. Some of these titles will be available for sale at the Legend Films website as of April 1st, and they will be available for retail everywhere else in June and July in separate batches. Cover art and more information to follow!"

I want to know: Will they have the Paramount logo attached to the respective prints? I believe it would only be fair to do justice to the studio after Legend Films has acquired the rights for these films.

reply

I just grabbed this a few minutes ago and yes, the Paramount logo is there after Logo Films splash when it starts.

I almost fell over when I saw this on the shelves. I don't have to guard my fading copy on Laser Disk anymore.

This was one amazing film and should have come out on DVD sooner than it did but better late than never.

Now...if we could just get Looking for Mr. Goodbar and Little Darlings....I'm afraid to play them for fear my VCR will eat them.

The sountrack on this sounds awesome, very lush compared to the laser disk version. Doesn't say it was remastered though.

That's great news! This film really deserves to be seen by a wider audience, and in widescreen. "The Possession of Joel Delaney" is another good title, one of Shirley MacLaine's lesser-known gems.

WAITING FOREVER FOR OTHER TITLES LIKE....LOOKING FOR MR. GOODBAR WITH DIANE KEATON, FRIENDS FROM 1971 WITH THAT NICE ELTON JOHN SOUNDTRACK, LITTLE DARLINGS 1980, ASH WEDNESDAY WITH LIZ TAYLOR.FRIENDS OF EDDIE COYLE WITH ROBERT MITCHUM AMONG OTHERS.

reply

Oh yes, "Looking for Mr. Goodbar" is high atop my list also. Fortunately, I bought that on VHS along with the 1971 "Friends" from my local video stores when they sold out their rentals. Martin Mull's "Serial" from 1980 is another, but that's finally coming out on DVD.

Also...Legend Films ...www.legendfilms.net

I just rented it from Netflix...I hope it's good...I'm an 80's kid but I don't remember this film.

Quentin Tarantino has stated "The Sender" his 1 of his favorite films.

For some reason this movie was often overlooked and disparaged when someone did remember it. I'm not sure why.

Split Image was another one from the same period that I never got to see but seems to have a devoted following of those who love it as well. Maybe one day I'll get to see that since back in the early 80's, my mom absolutely forbid me from seeing it fearing I was going to run off and join a cult.
