Rewatched this after 25 years

I was just a kid when I watched this movie. I remember it was on VHS on a locator and I used to rent it many times to watch it again. I had some kind of bind with that VHS.

All I remembered was the scene when Brisby's house fells and Nicodemus dies. Actually, in my memory it was Brisby who died. That was very intense for me.

Well after all these years I was finally able to find this movie's name. I didn't remember the "translated" name and it was something odd.

When I watched it again... it didn't feel so deep as I remembered. Nicodemus' death was nothing special, I think the emotional pressure didn't touch me. And I was surprised it was Nicodemus and not Brisby.

Well that's sad. It was a very special cartoon from my kid's ages and now it feels as just an average cartoon with an average plot. Sad :(

I might need to watch this again. It's been 8 years since I've watched it and I do love the golden age of Don Bluth.

It's still a very magical cartoon. Sometimes in life we let the realities of living turn off our inner child. Maybe relax and come back to it in a few years or something, and see if you still have those feelings.

Nicodemus's death was more or less an event to show the extent of the evil rat's influence. He was one of the few rats willing to speak up for Mrs. Frisby when she needed help.
