It's been a long, long time since I've seen this one, and found it on TMC over this past weekend. Yep... brings tears to the eyes.
I watched this movie when I was twelve, or so - and as we all know, boys didn't cry at that time....
I'm now 38 and while watching this movie, I shed tears like I've never done for a movie. Thanks Savannah, Alvie and Bootsie!!!

This movie's plot is quite similar to "The Ransom of Red Chief", a short story written by O. Henry.
"The Ransom of Red Chief" involves two kidnappers who hope to attain the necessary money by taking a child hostage, only to find that the child has more fun than the kidnappers can take, thinking that his time away from home is something of a camping expedition. "Red Chief" seems to be enjoying himself so much, he has more fun than in his hometown where he has to endure such things as going to school, lack of enjoyment at home, etc. He is quite disappointed when he has to be taken back to his home.
