Graphic hunting scene


I hated watching that giraffe being shot and blood just shooting out from its neck. Then watching vultures peck out its eyes. Really brutal scene. I will never understand the pleasure hunters find in killing at all.

Exactly so. And yet this scene is necessary in order to mark out the territory of thanatos that is so important in the ritualistic Japanese society. (Other scenes - like the sex museum - already having notated eros.) I applaud Marker for not backing away from this horror.

As beautiful as the narration, this was a very dark movie. The blood spurting out off the giraffe's neck bothered me somewhat.
