Ruckus film location

This movie was filmed in my town of Woodland, California a year before I was born and I really want to see it but I cant find it anywhere like block buster. Is it worth watching?

It's really an enjoyable movie. I'm sure you'd like it a lot. I saw it in the early 80s and about 6 or 7 years ago bought the VHS tape from Amazon. I rated it 10 out of 10.

It has been almost a year and a half since you posted your question. Have you seen the movie? If not I can tell you I loved it back in the early 80's, so much so I told everyone I knew about it! There have been many times since then that I have wanted to see it again but I couldn't locate it in any store. Then I thought I forgot the name because none of the video stores I went to had it listed. Now with the information confirmed and with internet options, I am going to find it and watch it - ASAP!!

Did you ever get your copy of "RUCKUS"? Try Ebay! A fun film to watch I laughed all the way throught it even the "serious" parts. Great to see some of the great character actors, Richard Farnsworth, Ben Johnson, Matt Clark etc. I could tell you some "stories" about the making of the movie as my wife was born and raised in Woodland (Woodpile) and was the Registered Nurse hired to provide medical care to the Stars and Staff. I even have the "Madoc County Jail" shirt that was used in the filming of the movie, but the jail and chain gang scenes were left on the cutting room floor. Fun to put locations in perseptive, like the jump from the silo into the river? Filmed at Sutter Basin Growers Co-op in Knights Landing. The stunt man was the late Dar Robinson who flew in to make the jump, two takes, then flew out to do another stunt on another movie. Oh yes, he actually jumped into an airbag next to the grain tanks. The river is actually east of where he jumped and across the county road and levy a hundred yards or so away from the tanks. My wifes name is in the Credits.

Thanks for the info on the stunts and actual location of filming them. This movie was highly underrated considering the cast, crew, cinematography, and directing. It was filmed and released before First Blood, which had much more violent content. Since you're familiar with the area, where is the bridge where one of the actors was thrown off by Dirk Benedict? Do you know when was the actual production dates on location?

There's much more of Knights Landing in this than Woodland. There's a scene which I think is at the Yolo County Fair, but it's at night and you can't see much. After that is a scene in a car driving on Main Street in Woodland, the scenery out the window is out of focus but you can make out the front of the State Theatre.

And since you're from Woodland, you're forgiven this time for thinking 'block buster' would be a good place to find any movie ;)

OK, kid. I was alive when this movie was new. I loved it, but it seems everyone else hated it (at least the reviewers). It's not perfect, but it's a fun movie to watch and it's one of the ones where the vet gets the girl and the last word. Rare for this type of film in the 80s. Most portrayed vets as "time bombs" with no feelings. And, yes, that's how the news portrayed us then.

I would happily give it a 15 out of 10. Mostly due to Ms. Blair, even clothed. But, Benedict was also good, as were the other, more well known stars. Benedict was fresh from the "A-Team" TV series, as I recall.

If you haven't seen it yet, look on Youtube. Yes, it's there. It's about time it was made available to people for less than $100. Geez, I haven't seen prices like that since the early Video days! It's free, so what have you got to lose?
