New Sequel Idea

An interesting idea for the next film in the Rocky/Creed franchise could be a story about Rocky facing false accusations of illegal doping during his title defenses in the early 1980s (in between Rocky II and Rocky III). The modern-day issue of “cancel culture” could come into play with Rocky being stripped of his titles and positive public image, demonized by the media, forced to close his restaurant, have his statue removed, etc. even though he has not been found guilty of any of the accusations. Donny could come to defend Rocky and help him win in court since his reputation also would be on line through his association with Rocky and the film could deal with him grappling with whether or not he should stand by Rocky or abandon him to protect his own image. Maybe it could be revealed that some old rival of Rocky is behind the accusations and will only make them go away if Rocky agrees to fight again (maybe a rematch between two old foes in their 70s) or agrees to convince Donny to lose a fight to give up his title, putting Rocky in a moral dilemma. Could make for an interesting Rocky story!

Rocky vs Clubber with Drago in Rocky's corner!!!!

I'd like to tweak your idea a bit. What if in the legal battle part, Rocky hires Matlock to defend him and the prosecution is headed up by Perry Mason. And instead of an old Rocky battling an old foe, Matlock and Mason slap on the boxing gloves and go toe to toe in the ring - whoever comes out on top wins the court case.

That's not a bad idea but I don't think it would fly as a Rocky/Creed movie. But maybe as a stand alone movie.

Just be prepared for the huge backlash... your script writing career would be over after one movie. You would be 'canceled'.

:D

No. That would not make for an interesting Rocky story at all.
