The flaw in the very last scene (the unofficial "rematch" between Apollo and Rocky

How would they determine who wins? A win in boxing is determined either by score, or by knockout. So...since there's no official scorer to keep track of scoring...one of them would have to knock the other one out to win. Since they are friends, it seems pretty barbaric that they would fight each other, full-on, until one or the other is concussed on the floor, unable to move.

I think it would be a matter of going until one says "Ok, you win."

No, they fought to the death. They both died in that ring, about 18 hours after the match began.
Rocky IV and beyond is an alternate timeline.

Adopting this as cannon.

Well, they obviously fought in that ring for about 5-6 years until Rocky tapped out. Because when Rocky gets home after this fight at the beginning of Rocky IV, his son is 8-9 and he's now celebrating his 9th anniversary with Adrian....
