I actually thought this one was better than Rocky ll

You know how the first Die Hard movie is great then the second one is pretty good but not the same because it tries to be exactly like the first film, then Die Hard 3 comes along with a fresh twist to the story and manages to be the best since the first film. That's pretty much how I feel about the first three Rocky films. Rocky is a great film, Rocky ll is pretty good but feels like a continuation that one could skip and go straight to this movie because Apollo is now Rockys ally and training him to fight MR. T. Mr. T just made for a badass opponent along with the great Eye Of The Tiger song and the subplot involving Mickey. Burgess Meredith was stunning in the scene where he tells Rocky he loves him. That scene completely broke my heart. I think with the way this one ended with Apollo getting that one last favor from Rocky, it could've been the ending for the entire series when you think about it. Stallone originally intended for this to be just a trilogy and it feels like it with that closure. The series took a decline after this until Rocky Balboa and Creed brought it back to greatness again.

You guys should see the movie marathon I did with Rocky 1,2,3, and Dragon The Bruce Lee Story titled When A Man Fights To Prove Himself. You can check it out on my blog.

Yeah I think this one at its best is better than II. But it has some lean patches too.

I didn't think Rocky II was all that great to begin with. I didn't like the fighting right-handed gimmick. Rocky is a "southpaw;" it's a fundamental part of his character. I know the behind-the-scenes reason for it, but it still sucks. I also didn't like Adrian's incessant bitching nor the overly long and boring drama surrounding her being in a coma. It does have some good (and funny) moments, but not enough to elevate it over III or IV, at least not from an entertainment perspective.

Creed sucked and it's not a Rocky movie anyway, it's a spinoff. Rocky Balboa wasn't bad, but the only one of the original 5 movies I'd rank it over is part 5. I hated the switch to cheap TV broadcast video for Rocky's fight at the end. A boxing match in a movie should look theatrical, not like you're watching a real boxing match at home on TV. Not only did it look like shit, but it was at odds with the previous Rocky movies, making it feel like they exist in a different universe.

I considered Creed a spinoff movie until I saw it. It's a Rocky movie. Creed II only solidified this further. If they make a third entry without Stallone, it will reflect in the box office. People see the Creed films for Rocky.

It's a spinoff. The Rocky movies focus on Rocky Balboa, i.e., Rocky is the protagonist. The Creed movies focus on Adonis Creed, i.e., Creed is the protagonist.

"People see the Creed films for Rocky."

That may be, but it doesn't have anything to do with whether or not it's a spinoff.

Not even close. II is infinitely better than III. II is second only to the original
