When, when will Reuben, Reuben be on DVD?

It's been a long time since I last even had a copy of this wonderful film on tape and I long so to see it again, but without a DVD, without a late night showing it seems futile.

There seems to be next to nothing about it on the web and I never meet anyone that remembers it. Am I the only one that liked this film?

I too am looking futilely for a copy. Of course, Netflix is a non-starter because it doesn't exist on DVD. I am AMAZED that even the New York Public Library system which has EVERYTHING does not have a copy of the VHS tape.

The movie has haunted me since the theatrical showing in 1983...I had fallen in love with Tom Conti from THE NORMAN CONQUESTS and went on the mention of his name. I think I saw it one additional time on TV a LONG time ago.

"Haunted" is the precise word because the movie has always been front and center with every dental visit or threatened or lost tooth of my adult life and the association the movie makes between desirability, aging, death, and TEETH is so brilliantly original it would impress Shakespeare. It was one of the most important movies of my life (and I'm no kid.)

I guess I will have to try my hand at one of the used Amazon offerings (thanks to tgordon for this suggestion.)

No, mentaplix, you are NOT the only one who has enjoyed Reuben, Reuben. In my book, it rates at least ELEVEN stars.

Go to half.com (www.half.ebay.com). They have several VHS copies.

One thing that threw me off when I first searched for it on half.com: when you type in the title to do the search, the site lists about 500 other movies whose titles have only a meager connection to the words "Reuben Reuben", even when you type in the exact title! It defaults to listing in order of the bestselling titles. Sadly, since most people are ding-a-ling's who don't appreciate a fine drama like Reuben Reuben, it's way way way down on the list.
So you have to click on "alphabetical" and then go to the R's. I don't know what moron set their site up that way. But anyway, there are several sellers on half.com who have VHS copies.

I would say: NEVER

I was lucky enough to find an old VHS lying at the bottom of a bargain bin in a video store for $1. I think it's soon to be lost forever, so get it while you can!

Having seen many thousands of films in my lifetime, 'Reuben, Reuben' is still in a VERY short list of my favorites.

It is indeed a crime that such a wonderful piece of work is being lost to the masses, while mediocrity abounds. I'd gladly trade half of my substantial dvd collection for a copy of this film.

Still no dvd?

Kramer: ...he was very impressed with what I do.
Elaine: What you do? You don't do anything!
