Shown rarely on TV

Yes. SEN-NEN JOO can't bee seen on TV very often.

It may never bee shown in Germany again, which is quite tragic! The last time was back in 1992 ( ! ) on the channel Tele 5, translated as "Die Koenigen der tausend Jahre". Once and never again! Oh, the horror!

On the site wunschliste.de there are lists of most missed animation shows on TV, and SEN-NEN JOO is on place 8!
How come the TV stations don't find that out?

The last time it was shown in France was in 2004 on the channel MANGAS, translated as "La Reine du fonds des temps". I hope they show it again!

Sad but true.

Unfortunately this possibly best work by Matsumoto never caught the atention it deserved in western world.

At least you got to see it broadcasted on your local television, be glad by that. Here in Portugal it never broadcasted and very likely never will.

A response! Sorry for not answering sooner, but I haven't visited this thread for months. I didn't expect someone would know about this TV show.

I agree that "Sen Nen Joo" is Matsuoto's best work and it is truly a pity the western world ignored it. I mean, today it is real nostalgia to me, because it had everything a mystery buff like me liked : space, spectacular plot, mysterious things and futuristic time setting( although the year 1999 today seems more like past times ). I only wish it had more humor...and that Amamori was drawn "normally", like the others. That trademark animation style from Matsumoto bugs me a little bit.

I bought my DVDs of it on a ( illegal ) bootleg friendly site from Germany. And I'm glad I did since it is unlikely it will be shown on TV anytime soon.

Oh yeah, it was shown in 2005 again on MANGAS. At least France knows what's good.

MFG

A response...? Good! What a surprise.

Well, there are 7 episodes downloaded on the site youtube.com. They are in German and the picture quality is surprisingly good. Here's the link:

As for the whole show...That's a tough one. I have the whole thing on (bootleg) DVD. I know it's not correct, but it's not a case of piracy either since "Queen Millenia" is officially still not available for sale in Europe.

I bought the DVDs on the site www.sammlerboerse.at

Currently nobody is selling it. But you have to be patient and someday someone just maybe will. Good luck.

I'm an American fan of Leiji Matsumoto. I've seen the Cockpit, Aradia of my Youth, and both Galaxy Express films (all were fan subs except for Aradia). I also have seen the Queen Millennia movie, and of all his works it touches me the most (especially the song at the end). I'd love to one day see the TV shows too.

No doubt its one of the most heartrendering anime ever made. It is sold on ebay.com sometimes, though the discs are japanese only. Just search for Queen Millennia there, you might be lucky. Theres also a movie with slightly upgraded animation.

there is a a complete torrent release of the german dubbed show on the internet now ! ... seams to be the only way to get it these days ...

great show :)

You germans are lucky bastards . I've also seens that torrent somewhere and something on youtube.

It seems that a fansub is releasing episodes of it, but it wont end the project anytime in years to come.

I've seen the movie and I may be spoiled by it but it doesn't matter, the movie is beautiful and the music of Kitaro just glues on your head and stays there for lots of time, I've downloaded the OST thorugh some torrent some time ago, I don't know if i's still availabe, but it's completely gorgeous!

I saw this in Chinese when I was little. I would love to watch this again in either Chinese or English, but I found nothing.

Crunchyroll has another Lejimoto's classic - Galaxy Express.

Show me the holes!
