Why I care about Purple Haze

I caught this film on cable about 10 years ago. It was such an immersive experience in the late 1960's culture, it made an indelible impression on me, without the benefit of psychedelic drugs or alchohol to enhance it.
I have not be able to locate or see it since.

I saw this movie listed in a movie review book 15 or 20 years ago, made a note to self that it looked interesting and that I wanted to see it, but I can't find it anywhere. I'm amazed it's even here on IMDb. Anyone out there have a copy or know where I can find it?
