How did this film such a low rating?

How did this film get such a low rating? If I had followed the advice of many of the reviews of this film I would have missed out on a very funny and generally enjoyable film. If you are expecting Fawlty Towers you will be disappointed, but most of us want something different.

I've watched this movie over and over. Very underrated. Possibly Cleese goes a bit over the top but Quilley is excellent.

Enjoyed it. Pity they didn't get at l,east some of the cast from "It ain't Half Hot Mum."

I think it's a fair rating. The only scene I liked was Cleese asking the swearing guy on how to tell a private that his mother has died.
